Ed's Bike Commute

Due to a job change in February 2001, my daily round-trip commute expanded from 4 miles to 32 miles. In my quest for exercise (hard to come by with a desk job) I decided to continue bike commuting as much as possible. To that end I purchased a comfortable ride from Bike E (now out of business) and set off on my way.

Below is a summary of my commute progress starting from the first day of my new job. Statistics are based on the number of one-way trips I have made to and / or from work on work days only. I should add that the true motivation for this page is a traditional $1 bet with someone from my previous job who said I wouldn't be able to bike to work 50% of the time over the first year. The following table and corresponding column-header background color is dedicated to him.

* It should be noted that my bike was not delivered and ready for action until 2/26/01, after my first two weeks of employment. Not that I'm making excuses.
