Bruce Dennie introduced Leonard Padilla, world famous bounty hunter. Leonard has had a very exciting career capturing over 4000 fugitives in the past 33 years, only missing 10-12. Leonard was born in Firebaugh and travelled with his family up and down the state finally graduating from Tule Lake High School. He joined the airforce, earned a law degree and began bounty hunting. He founded the Lorenzo Patino Law School.

Leonard provided some interesting information about the bail bond industry and how the system works.  Bounty hunters work with law enforcement in a cooperative effort to apprehend fugitives. Leonard has travelled throughout the US and overseas pursuing people who have jumped bail.

Leonard answered questions from members and guests with some great insights about his work and his working environment.   Leonard provided background on the bail bond industry and explained how most of his family have been in the bail bond industry at some point. He also provided some of the back story about the television series Bounty Hunter. Leonard explained that bounty hunting outside of the Unitied States is much more difficult unless you know and understand the rules and laws of the country you are working in.

Program

Savanah Reiff presented the Past, Present, and Future of the Woodland Community Interact Club. She began with a history of Interact International followed by a brief history of the local club. Over the past five years, the membership has grown from 5 to 30. They started meeting at Steve Venables office and now have almost outgrown the space at the REMAX Center (is this the new sports complex in town). The club is active locally with the number of projects growing from one or two to a list of 20 different events during the year.

After Savanah's overview, Katie and Taryn provided a report on Camp Royal 2008. The program began with ice breaker activities and stress relief strategies. Participants focused on personalities and how they are incharge of themselves and their actions. One quote that was memorable was "Don't follow a path, blaze a trail"- Dr. Robbi Dobson. Both girls reported that the Ropes Course was one of their favorite experiences. Through the various activities, participants learned to trust others and to work as a team. Both girls shared that this was a life changing experience. They were told this at the start of Camp Royal but it really came home to them through the activities that they participated in.

The interacters concluded their presentations by thanking the members for all of their support.

Happy Bucks

Not necessarily happy but the club did take a moment to remember Chris Manzer. Charles M. was happy to be back from the British Ilses, Jim H. spent some time in Denver thinking he was headed to go fishing with his brother but the whole family showed up. Jim's mom is taking Jim and Jenna on vacations, Chamber of Commerce is having a mixer at the United Way office tonight; Patty A. has been offered a position as a State Trainer for AFLAC which will require a move to the Fresno area. She has been nervous about the decision but has accepted the position and will be moving in the next 2-3 weeks (She will be here for the Salmon BBQ); Neil is headed back to Stugart for some more rice germ plasm research; Howard P's son won their first football game; John S. took his son deer hunting and was sad that the deer are still wandering around.
