Land of the Free? A military group has sent out a blurb: 'Home of the Free because of the Brave." Francis Scott Key's (1814) quote was "Land of the Free and Home of the Brave." Because of the Brave. . . . Is our home saved because of Korea? Because of Vietnam? Because of Iraq? Because on Iran? We have basically lost all these wars, and indeed they have not 'saved' us. Do we live in a dream world, believing war is the way to problem-solving? Our disillusionment that power solves all things, must be moderated into reality. Our leader's belligerence has become clear and manifest, once again, That war is not the solution to our differences. We truly need more patience and self-control. The Chinese, sadly, are tenaciously proving this point.
