Should Technology Replace the Sports Referee? ` So many arguments about abortion and sports referees! We are mentally in conflict about so much. I am calmly examining the arguments for and against the latter. After much thought, I have concluded that Technology should not completely replace sports referees, But it should be an instrument to augment and support them. Automated systems make objective decisions, But human officials are vital for guiding game flow, Interpreting subtle differences and maintaining The sport's human element. Technology eliminates human error with those 'millimeter calls.' It ensures absolute fairness, removing referee bias Or crowd influence. Modern sports involve billions of dollars And technology protects the high stakes. Boundary calls are made in seconds, Bypassing long human reviews. But there is a case for the human element. AI cannot judge subjective rules with nuance and intent. AI cannot manage emotions on the field or de-escalate situations. There are contextual tracking limits-- 'When did a runner's knee hit the ground?' Fans need involvement and debate-- 'The human element of the game.' There needs to be a symbiotic relationship Where technology is the referee's final assistant. Fan involvement allows for that human debate, Which preserves the spirit of the game.
